this is a picture of me and my partner making a Foss plane. and i will tell you lots of cool things about this experiment! how you build this kind of plane is that all you need is 1 big straw and cut it in a half. then you make holes in the straws so the little on can go through the straw like you see in the picture. the you need two Popsicle sticks and sand them down and make them equal and then if they are not equal then you sand them down until they are equal. then u need a rubber band too connect to the propeller that u see in the picture. then too make the Foss plane go you have twist it clockwise if you don't twist it counterclockwise then it will not go anyone at all! It wont even move one tiny bit. and of you build this plane wrong then everything will go wrong!! so don't build this plane wrong!
now this is it this is how we test the Foss plane all you do is put 2 chairs far away and then connect a silky line across the two chairs so the line connects to both of the lines. then you put the plane on the line. But first you have to UN hook the line so you can put the line threw the bottom straw. after you do that then you twist the propeller clockwise a surtan of time to see how much winds does it take to get to the other chair. My partner and I twisted it 27 times and it worked so we were done with that experiment. It took us about a few weeks to set this Foss plane to work and work the experiment too.
this experiment was really fun!! to me I'm not sure about many other people though but it was really fun to me i loved this experiment! the most thing i like about this experiment was....well there was two things that i liked the most about this experiment. The thing i liked the most was...... Building the plane and testing the planes. Because.......when you and your partner are building this plane you need lots of influence to build it. Because you need to to everything right. When you do everything right it is even More Fun. Because when you start testing the Foss planes you and your partner have to guess how much spins it takes to get to the other chair. that was one of my favorite because i like guessing allot of stuff and this is just a fun thing to do with partners
What i learned about this experiment was really cool also because i learned allot of stuff that I never new in my life!!!!!!!! what one thing i learned about is you CAN NOT CHANGE ONE VARIABLE AT A TIME you can only change one at a time because if you change 2 at a time then when you make a mistake then you wont know which variable to change back SO NEVER CHANGE TWO VARIABLES AT A TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
another thing i learned was about potential energy and kinetic energy is that potential energy that is stored and getting ready to go off like for example..... a roller coaster that is at the tip top of the cliff and is getting ready to go down the coaster.... that is potential energy. Kinetic energy is something that is moving in the air or just something that is moving i have lots of examples of both but i am just going to tell you one a example that is kinetic energy is a pencil dropping from someone dropping the pencil.
and that's is my writing of the Foss Plane Experiment And the only way i learned all this stuff is from are sweet science teacher Mr. Reed
