My Terrarium

In our science class we have built terrariums. they took about 2 .5 days too built the terrariums. this is a fun experiment so far!!!

now i am going to tell you about my terrarium.so far my terrarium has lots of plants growing in it but some of them are laying on the soil. but some are growing really well!!!!!!!!! that is also good.

my partner and i set up are terrarium. first we used a big rectangular box to put the soil in. then after we put the soil in the rectangular box then we planted the seeds and after we planted the seeds we put water over the the seeds that we planted. The seeds we planted were barley, pea, radish, corn, and clovers. when we left for the day the next day we came back into science class. can you guess what? Some of the seeds have already sprouted!! the seeds that i first saw sprout when i came back where the corn and a lot of the clovers where already sprouted and they where really tall for the first day back. I say they where about 5 to 6 inches tall already so i think they will be the first plants ready and sprouted.

the seed that i saw sprout last was i think the pea because the first few days when al lot of other plants were ready the pea wasn't really ready.i think the seed that grew the best i think was the corn because it grew the best and it is the tallest plant grown so far.

some of the things in the terrarium are changing because they have been in the terrarium for so long that they are starting to fade away and starting to fall to the ground and not even growing into the air! and when we put the rocks into the terrarium the beetles and the isopods started to climb on the rocks and when the plants were on the ground they started to climb on those also. those are some things changing in our terrarium. some things that are nonliving have changes to well not that many things have changed. but here are some of them that i have noticed. the soil is not that think and rich anymore it is sorta dry and that's all i have noticed so far.

The rocks and plants are good for the animals because it is sometimes good for them to eat and the rocks are good cimbing this for the beetles and isopods to climb on. i would recommend planting the seeds by putting a hole in the soil and then puting in the seeds carefully in its sport then go one by one with different seeds and then put about a 1/2 of water in each hole. For the plants and then that should be great for your plants.

if i set up my own terrarium i would make the box just a little bit bug and make a circle instead of a box. I think then they would have more running room and playing room for them selves. and i would put grass in the terrarium to because then they can get some of there shade from the sun and they can hide from someone if they are playing a game

now that's all about my terrarium!! thank you Mr. Reed for letting us do this project.
